A Couple Afternoons With Gabi by Robert Spradlin

I'm just going come right out and say it: It's inaccurate calling this a "senior photo" shoot. The more accurate description would be calling this the "hang out with Gabi, have a great time, and let her make you look REALLY good as a photographer" shoot.

Gabi is a super-amazing kid and was a ridiculous amount of fun to work with.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Chelan County Commons - A new Venue For Local Photographers by Robert Spradlin

This last week, I became involved with a really exciting new endeavor. Chelan County Commons gives local photographers a venue to showcase and offer to the public, images in and around our beautiful home. I'm so excited to be part of this project and to be able to offer some of my favorite moments and places, in tandem with my other services. Do me a favor and and take a peek. You can see my gallery here, and do us a solid and give Chelan County Commons some love on Facebook, here

As always, if something in my portfolio not featured in Chelan County Commons strikes your fancy, give me a shout.

The Clark Wedding - Town Toyota Center by Robert Spradlin

On July 4th of this year I had the privilege of backing up the incomparable Ms. Mary Collier for the Clark wedding at the Town Toyota Center here in Wenatchee. What an experience!

I got to help help shoot the first wedding held in the TTC. I got to shoot from the cat walk above the arena! I can't thank Mary enough for letting me tag along. It was such a blast!

Here are a few of the favorite shots I took that day. Hope you enjoy them as much as I had taking them.

The McKee-Ringler Wedding by Robert Spradlin

I had so much fun last month shooting Kevin and Danielle's wedding. The temperature was in the triple digits, but between the strategically placed misters and the great company, the heat was hardly noticeable.

Such a happy couple and such a wonderful day, it was a joy being able to spend it with you. Thank you Kevin and Danielle.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Wenatchee Burning by Robert Spradlin

My adopted hometown, Wenatchee Washington, burned yesterday.

The fire started in an area northwest of the city, called Sleepy Hollow. Triple-digit heat and ferocious winds quickly turned a small blaze into a monster.

That monster descended upon the city with a speed I can scarcely wrap my head around. We all watched it race across the hills with terrifying speed.

In the span of eight hours I went from snapping photos of helicopters running water to the blaze north, to watching a swath of the industrial heart of the city turned to ash by an ember borne miles on the wind. I've gone from evacuating my home with only those items we deemed essential, to sleeping (very little) on the floor of a church sanctuary, to resting comfortably once again in my own home.

I have mourned with friends their losses, and rejoiced that they are unharmed.

It has been a deeply surreal twenty four hours. I am deeply grateful for where I am tonight.

This is my attempt to come to terms with the last day, in telling, as best I know how, my small piece of the story.

Because I need another distraction... by Robert Spradlin

I set up a Twitter account today. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Wait, what? A tech savvy dude like you isn't already all over the Twitters? That seems hardly likely." Difficult to believe, I know, but true.

Twitter has always seemed both completely overwhelming and rather redundant to me. I'm already connected to the people and things I want to be connected to through other venues. Why do I want want another distraction in my day?

It was photography that finally pushed me over the precipice into the maelstrom that is the Twitterverse. I am ferociously passionate about capturing in photos life, events, people, nature, the visual world around us. I am obsessed with constant learning, exploring, expanding my abilities. And I want to share that passion. Twitter can be an asset in accomplishing all of that, I think.

So here I go. It is still quite overwhelming, but I've already made some headway in figuring out how to tame the clutter and get to the information I want to see, when I want to see it. The next step will be figuring out how to use Twitter to share my passion for photography with as wide an audience as possible.

You can check me out at @SpradlinPhoto. Not much there after 3 hours, but stay tuned...
